Volley Life Coed Quads Bash at New Berlin Ale House (Aug 22nd, 2020)

Affiliate: Grant Park Beach

Thank you for joining us at the 2020 Coed Quads Bash at the New Berlin Ale House!

Tournament starts at 8am

Check-in starts at 7:30am. As teams enter, the team captain will need to pick up a physical NBAH Waiver form that each of their players must sign. Players under the age of 18 must have a parent sign the waiver. I apologize that this cannot be done online, but the NBAH requires us to complete this step. Team captains can then turn in the entire team's signed waivers to the tournament desk. Pleaes do not crowd the tournament desk, keep at least 6 feet of distance between teams, and only send up the team captain.

Tournament will be split into an upper and lower bracket after pool play. Pools and the format are posted online at https://volleylife.bracketpal.com/tournament/20. Format is subject to change at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

Prizes for 1st place, 2nd place, and consolation bracket.

Pools of 4 will play two games to 21, cap at 23, switch sides every 7 points.

Pools of 5 will play one game to 30, cap at 32, switch sides every 7 points.

Teams will be reseeded for playoffs based on performance. Points matter!

Scores must be recorded immediately after the end of the match and online. It is your responsibility to ensure your match record is reported accurately. Look for a second email from us with details on how to submit scores online. We will not use clipboards for the tournament to minimize shared surfaces.

Playoff matches will all be one game to 30 until the quarterfinals when we will begin match play.

Match play is best of three to 21, win by 2, no cap, third game to 15.

Teams will switch side every 7 points in games to 21 and every 5 points in games to 15.

We have a lot of matches to get through, so keep warm ups to less than five minutes and be prepared to start your match within 10 minutes of the end of the previous match, sooner if possible.

If your team is not ready to play within ten minutes of the listed start time for a match or ten minutes after the preceding match is completed on your court (whichever comes first), you will forfeit one point per minute until after an additional ten minutes, you forfeit the first set. If your team is still not ready by fifteen minutes, you forfeit the match. All forfeits must be confirmed by the tournament director.

All games are self reffed. Rules follow USAV Beach rules with a few exceptions:

You can set the serve.

A block does not count as a touch.

You must rotate serve, but otherwise there are no positions and all four players are considered front row.

You can double hit any first contact.

There is no "girl" or coed rule.

You must be square to set over the net - the ball must pass directly through your shoulders either forward or backward.

There are no open hand tips.

It will be hot the day of the event. Please make sure that you stay hydrated throughout the tournament, that you use sunscreen, and that you find some shade. Please bring your own tents!

You may bring in water and sports drinks (e.g. Gatorade), along with fruits and vegetables (bananas, carrots, apples, etc.) and granola bars. Per the normal carry-in policy, any other food items (such as potato chips), soda, and alcohol will not be allowed. Additionally, we would recommend bringing lounge chairs and a beach tent for in between matches.

Additional Safety Precautions
We will have hand sanitizer and cleaning products at tournament central that you are free to use, however we strongly suggest bringing your own hand sanitizer.

Additionally, we have plenty of space around the volleyball courts, so please make sure to space tents out accordingly to promote social distancing. Please do not stack tents right next to each other. If that happens, we may ask for some tents to be moved to allow for adequate space between tents. Picnic tables have also been spaced out to promote social distancing.  Please do not move the picnic tables.

Masks will be worn by all Ale House employees. They are required if you enter the building or if you sit on the patio attached to the Ale House, outside of when you are actively eating or drinking. Se strongly encourage using masks if you are unable to social distance around the volleyball bar and when you are not playing.

Be a good sport and help everyone enjoy the event!
